doubleheart, the collaborative project of two of scotlands longest serving creative individuals in electronic music - jd twitch (optimo espacio) and neil landstrumm. taking its name from title song *roots* - a sub heavy, tension building track that re-imagines jamaican dub poet michael smiths original from the seminal 1982 album ‘mi cyaan believe it - the ep as a whole works as an analogue exploration into the rawer side of dance music. working together allows these veteran producers to fuse their individual styles and musical sensibilities, combining landstrumms raw aesthetic and mastery of hardware manipulation with twitchs unrivalled knowledge of what makes a dancefloor tick. spawning from the depths of their imaginations and machines are 4 club-ready tracks brimming with anticipation and menace. although taking its inspiration from 80s electro and 90s acid & rave, the final result is far from a throwback to a halcyon, bygone era. instead, they have managed to carve out a distinctive sound the bleeps and bangs its way firmly into 2013.

following the first release on my lit label is from the quite brilliantly named, bebop & rocksteady. this might be a new name to some but the guys behind this project are lukes anger & ben mallott. after playing catalunya throughout the year i felt this tune needed to see a release, its just so f***ing good. its response on the dancefloor was devastating. anyone who has seen me dj recently would remember this one in my set, it gets a massive reaction once that drop comes in. i will still be playing this all year, a proper slice of good wonky techno. -addison groove

detroit veteran len bartush (mutate) returns to advance the series that began with the now classic circle 1. a full round kick and jack style upbeats are all that is necessary to support the deep, modulated synth lines that travel through lush plates of reverb. alberto pascual hits a homerun with his remix that will move any club, festival, or warehouse party. project 313s remix supplies moving synth lines are stripped down and replaced with driving rhythms and pulsating bass making this a superb techno offering. the plankton remix turns up the tension with warehouse style percussion and intertwining rhythms complimented by science- fictionesque stabs and pounding bass. the >circle 2< ep is an essential piece of detroit minimalism.

2012 witnessed the birth of a shadowy transatlantic musical conspiracy known as bohemian groove. taking their inspiration from the infamous bohemian club, a conclave of powerful men who met annually at the bohemian grove campground in california to plan world-changing developments including the manhattan project, this musical axis of evil spans toronto and helsinki, with their base of operations in berlin.

diva is a project which explores the outer regions of technos psyche - combining the trippy sensuality of chris & cosey with the brutalist analogue aesthetic of the likes of robert hood or liasons dangereuses. inspired by the vocal histrionics of strobe lit sirens such as loleatta holloway and jocelyn brown, diva calls on the protean roots of basement club music. lead track >paris stabbing< is a stunning excursion into motor city madness, abstracted disco vocals clash with a broken digi-arpeggio and hooverish bass break down, whilst the flip side >but i ve never< imposes a detuned synth siren over an industrial bass sequence and sp1200 piano stabs to eerie effect. also included is the >paris stabbing (beats)< which pares down the original, adding detuned melodic percussion into a minimalist after hours tool.

boris bunnik goes under many aliases. numerous smaller projects, some huge faceless projects but mostly known and well respected for his conforce project. as versalife he found his way to the clone familia for his night time activities project, and around this same period we just managed to pull out the best suitable tracks for frustrated funk. versalife is electro-techno in its purest form. deep and intense analog rhythms with crisp percussion patterns slightly touching the more experimental side of things. this ep is a nice balanced mixture of industrial drone material to more classic sounding electro with versalifes own signature strength. highly recommended as always!

botox present >basement love<, the first part of their second album >sans dormir<. two years after their previous lp >babylon by car<, cosmo vitelli and julien briffaz decided to unveil this new project through six different moments - call them eps - like six volumes forming a single story, each one being released every two months. the slow title-song >basement love< is released as a way of introduction, along three dancefloor remixes that lift this basement up in the air.

atjazz & fred everything are back together again. their last collaboration dates 2010 on lazy days but the pair have been friends since the late 90s and have collaborated and remixed each other countless times. the beast and the ghost explores the deeper, dubber side of their production. the project was started in derby and finished in san francisco, while atjazz worked on his inside dub from home. this will be featured on the upcoming lazy dubs compilation, out in january.

jack dice is a new project from john twells and walkmaster flex, now releasing their debut ep for modern love. john twells, amongst very many other things, runs the type label and has been producing music of various different disciplines and varieties over the last 15 years. although hes never released anything on modern love before, hes a long time friend and associate of the label. walker is the manager of main attrakionz and has been djing with them for the last couple of years as the official green ova dj. jack dice is fuelled by an interest in bass, twells being a car audio nerd and walker having an obsession with 90s southern rap music. these are their first tracks produced together, who know what might follow.

despite the advent and cari lekebusch being two of the most enduring names in techno, the release of sonic intervention is the most high profile product to date of a working relationship that has that has spanned almost the entire history of techno. something of a landmark for all concerned, not only is it the first full-length album from the advent since 2005 s t.r.i.n.i.t.y long player for berlin s tresor records but for h-productions and its founder, the project is the highlight thus far of the labels resurgent release schedule. as lekebusch commented, to have known and respected cisco and his music or so long it was of course a great moment to get to release this album. the blend of old and new styles with high caliber the advent production has created a strong album with depth and variety that i think new and old fans alike will really enjoy .

ltd nice price copies !!! new project by damian schwartz !!! sam the mummy lives in the deepest catacombs of his existence. hardly ever he can be seen on the surface and just a few ones have the >honor< of knowing him. even stranger it is his relationship with damián schwartz, the only person allowed to listen and disclose his awesome and disturbing works. here is the first one: untitled1 (mupa008). it starts with cradle, a brief but captivating prologue. and from the cradle to the grave, here comes untuned (interview), where sam introduces us in his most personal universe, crumbling his darkest secrets. soon we can see what hes up to, because despite of appearing as a hard and cold guy, on the very first beats he reveals pure soul music. tireless groove with magnificent salsa touches, bittersweet cymbals and congas that run with an intimidating elegance. on b side, pharaon s cat introduces stand up. little by little, it steps into a background of hypnotic and jazzy sequences accompanied by aristocratic piano notes that try to break into, but can only go out on tiptoes. so smart and so danceable at the same time.

omega male could conceivably be described as a supergroup, a transatlantic duo featuring david best of brighton minimalist kraut-funk outfit fujiya & miyagi and sammy rubin of brooklyns digital rock band project jenny, project jan. the combination is an inspired one – laptop sex music played by two white dudes.

the same people behind emotional rescue launch as fine sister imprint in the shape of emotional rescue, with a near perfect insight into how the label will operate thanks to nzambi - a quite stunning full length album from jason letkiewicz under his alan hurst moniker. if you consider yourself an avid purchaser of vinyl, you will no doubt have added some letkiewicz heat to your collection in recent times, with excellent releases as steve summers and innergaze in recent times. the alan hurst project sees the brooklyn producer in more laid back form, indulging his passion for library sounds and experimental electronics with just as much aplomb. allegedly commissioned to soundtrack a film on modern haitian voodoo, nzambi is a woozily intoxicating thirteen track set that opens your senses to a true darkness in this producers palette of sounds that has not really been explored before.

the next catalog number presents you two berlin artists– jonn melchiat & k.atou. both are not unknown in the business. so k.atou already collaborated with labels like bpitch control, einmaleins musik or resopal. jonn melchiat who made himself a name with the pseudonym sonceboz, decided now to focus on his project jonn melchiat and releases beside on the label what now becomes, an ep on sono vivo.
